If you haven’t watched Andor, watch Andor! I don’t know how many people have been sleeping on this show. Fine. Woke means awake. It teaches you how to fight the Imperial Security Bureau of a fascist empire. That is a useful skill. If you are skipping it to stick to Disney you have picked the world’s worst boycotting approach. It’s really good.
Cassian,
I noticed that you handed Kino the microphone and told him to speak and tell the prisoners what to do. I get the instinct. He was the epitome of a positive masculine leader. His beard his gravely voice saying he’d “rather die trying to take them down then giving them what they want” and that there was “one way out”. It made me proud.
Of him. Not you.
No. One way out is a slogan, not an exit plan. There were certainly multiple ways in. I am pretty sure you didn’t swim to the prison. Someone somewhere has a ship or a boat. Probably on campus if you ask one of the cowering soldiers for the keys. If there are literally no ships or planes (odd), then take a beat, keep control of the terrified cowering soldiers and have one of them call for a ship to head your way?
And hey, while you’re at it, you can question the soldiers, see what they know, share intel, maybe make this prison the new base of the revolution as long as that makes sense.
Kino had been in jail so long that his framework made sense and his ability to summon up any passion at all a miracle in an environment designed to crus his spirat. You were the one with the fresh pespective. You started it but didn’t finish it. You survived, what a surprise, but plot armor is not a sustainable strategy.
You should have thought it out hard with him and the rest to really stick it to the bastards. The right way out was not up – it was through.
Love,
Me
