I have this whole philosophy about how all villains can be understood and redeemed. Before he was Sauron, Mairon was a craftsman who wanted to perfect the world. Before he was Thanos, Dione was trying to prevent genocide. Before he was the Lord Ruler, Rashek was just doing his best to fight the deepness.
But you. YOU. I am at a loss. You signed on to be the mouthpiece of animal extermination so you could pretend you could fly! That was like, literally your origin story. Your childhood tragedy was that your magic wand wasn’t real.
The only thing worse than WandGate in your charmed life was Fiyero dumping you for Elphaba. And we know that turned out, your feelings were so hurt that you INSTANTLY plotted with the Wizard to get her captured, knowing that a genocidal dictator wasn’t going to let her off with a warning.
And nice job convincing her to go into hiding so that for the so-called Good of Oz everyone needed to continue to believe she was the true villain.
Could you have convinced them of the truth? Of course. The ability to understand human nature and use it to manipulate is your actual superpower. You could have united Munchkinland around love and truth. But why do that when you can instead unite the masses around a lie of the “Good” Witch triumphing over “evil”? Oh, and in the process rule as the uncontested Queen of Oz?What a surprise.
And let’s not forget as one of your final acts is to send the architect of state sponsored assassination and Animal Genocide back to Earth!
As a representative of Earth, thanks for nothing. If I see your Wizard, I will send him straight back to Oz.
This I can say. You did not change for good. You are the one who is truly wicked. And no matter how many cheer you get as you fake off in your fake bubble thing, I hope somewhere in your heart you know it.
