One of my favorite songs when I need a little pick-me-up is Fight Song. It’s easy for things to feel hopeless, but when you hear that you have a lot of fight left in you it makes it true. Seriously. Music changes moods, minds, even identity – it’s science.
Some people don’t like Fight Song, especially given it was used in the Hillary Clinton campaign. In a roundup here, Los Angeles Times music writer Gerrick Kennedy said “I hate ‘Fight Song.’ It’s one of the worst songs ever released. It’s schmaltzy, forgettable.” Bernie staffers call it “wrecking balls inside my brain. Esquire called it a mindless, overused jingle.
They don’t speak for me.I still have got a lot of fight left in me to stand up to that song. Me and the woman who said this song literally saved my life when I was in a really dark place”. So that, plus me, plus Rachel make three. Three is a trend.
